New Zealand Tertiary College are supporting teachers in the early childhood education sector to upskill and advance their careers, by offering reduced fees on two postgraduate programs.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Leadership and Management) and the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education) are both accessible at a reduced rate for professionals who enrol in the August 2024 intake.
Building on undergraduate qualifications, the two programs offer new expertise and knowledge around authentic leadership, effective management, and building relationships with children and their families.
The fee reduction also makes it easier to develop leadership and earning potential in the current economic climate, as graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma are eligible for a remuneration increase under the pay parity scheme.
For Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Leadership and Management) student Caylee Bell, the reduced fees on the program gave her the perfect opportunity to develop her practice while in an existing leadership role.
“I want to further my career prospects moving forward,” she explains.
“I had been thinking of adding some leadership papers to my qualification and was mentoring a NZTC student when I saw that NZTC was offering the Postgraduate Certificate in 2024 at a discounted rate. The program was all online as well, which fitted well with my work as a full-time teacher.”
Interested in trauma-informed teaching, Bell wants to be able to support her teaching team in growing their practice so they can better support affected learners and their families as a centre.
“My current course is ‘The Authentic Leader’ and I’m finding it is helping me to reflect deeply on who I am as a leader, my way of being and the impact/influence that I have on those I lead.”
Reduced fees are available to domestic students only. Students must be enrolled in the August 2024 intake.
