As an island nation, we are blessed by the marvel of our surrounding seas. From Cape Reinga to the Bluff, all New Zealanders can access the ocean within a few hours’ drive.
Seaweek is New Zealand’s annual week dedicated to celebrating the sea and all that it encompasses. Running from Saturday 2 March until Sunday 10 March, the national week focuses on learning all about the sea.
It was developed to excite and inspire Kiwis to renew their connections with the sea by getting to know our ocean, its habitats, characteristics and inhabitants better.
If you would like to share and celebrate Seaweek with the young children in your life, Young Ocean Explorers have created a fantastic video aimed at those aged 2-6 years old. Created with funding from NZ On Air, the fun and informative video collaborates with popular children’s songwriter Chris Lam Sam.
